Tapas in San Diego, HS Reunion

Authentic tapas in San Diego?

Yes, there are!

While in San Diego I had the pleasure of dining at Costa Brava with some of the coolest girls ever.

I went to high school in Baltimore, but a few of my classmates moved to the West Coast...and who could blame them!  Since I was staying with Amanda, we decided that we needed to have a mini-HS reunion.  The night that FNCE ended, I went to dinner with Amanda, my cousin Melissa, and another classmate, Julie.

This was probably one of the best moments of my trip.  I had an amazing time with some amazing ladies.  I loved catching up with everyone, reminiscing about the good ol' days, and enjoying some tasty Spanish fare.

The light was dim, so I apologize for the poor pics, but just know that the food was GOOD!

We started with a cheese plate.

In case you are not familiar with tapas, they are small plates, and you order a bunch, and then sample them all.  It's a fun way to go.  Oh, and to keep it authentic, we had a nice bottle of red wine to go with them.

While the Spanish cheese plate is classic, you really can't get much more classic than the Tortilla Espanola.  This is an egg and potato dish, like an omelet.

Garlic and olive oil shrimp.

Ah, patatas bravas, which are potatoes in a spicy sauce.

Plus, we even tried some desserts.  We had the creme brulee and bread pudding.

Such an amazing evening with old friends.  I loved every minute of this evening.  I hope it is not another 11 years before I see Julie again, or even a few years before seeing my cousin and Amanda again.  That is just way too long.

QUESTIONS:  Do you see your HS friends often?  Have you attended any reunions?

How fun! I love get togethers with my high school friends. They don't happen often enough, but when they do they're always so nostalgic and entertaining.

A lot of my friends have moved to the east and west coast, far away from the Mid-West. I feel your pain.

Well those are some familiar faces :) I thought about Amanda the other day when I went to my moms house! Julie and I dissected a fetal pig together in biology. lol! Glad you had fun. Your food looks delish! xo!
