Saturday, the snack day

I really must start by saying that these oranges we received from our neighbors are the best oranges I have ever eaten. WOW! The also are the smelliest oranges I have ever eaten. The second my nail punctured the skin I knew this was not your regular orange. Ryan could smell it at the other side of the table and all I did was make a tiny puncture in the orange. But they tasted so good so we ate some more and now the whole house smells like oranges.

This tuna sub was from Friday lunch when I went to the base to run an errand and then realized I was off on my times and everyone was at lunch, so even though I had no plans to eat lunch on base, I stopped at the subway so I was wasn't just sitting in my car in the rain for 20 minutes.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
Ok, not quite there yet, but we did have a big Thanksgiving dinner at Ryan's work on Friday evening. Lots of meat. Funny since it was the day after my radio spot on vegetarian diets and some people heard me and I got teased a little at the meat fest. In the end I was sad that no one brought a veggie other than sweet potato dishes, and there was no salad. I enjoyed the mac and cheese, which was very good. I would have taken a pic of my plate, but it wasn't really all that, so I just ate it. It did taste very good though and there was a sweet potato dish with pecans on top that was pretty good too.
And that brings us to Saturday, the snack day. We woke up and almost immediately jumped on the computers to do some work. That's it. Really, I think we were on the computers doing work until 8 or 9 at night. I am not sure why we were so busy (well Ryan had a paper for school) on a Saturday, but we were. After some time though I started to get hungry, but it wasn;t quite lunch time. So I grabbed a handful of these...
and a little while after that, still not feeling lunch, I grabbed one of these...
each package has 3 of these little bars in them. This is the mixed berry flavor, but my fave is the apple flavor...
and still a little while later, not quite time for lunch, although lunch time had come and gone, so Ryan suggested one of these little guys...only 50 cals in a mini ice cream cone...
and then it was time to actually eat a meal for the day. So Ryan made one of his faves, perogies, well the frozen ones, but still perogies. This time we didn't have onions, but that was OK. For those of you who have never had a perogie, you are missing out on these yummy Polish treats. if you live on the east coast you probably have crossed paths with a perogie at some point.
Perogies go great with sour cream. I, of course, buy the light sour cream!
As an added bonus, Ryan threw some frozen onion rings in the oven to give the perogies the closest thing to their best friend (onions, hehe) he could find. And so the meal was complete...
but not without the condiments. So sour cream and mustard were added and we had a sort of snack type meal for dinner. Good thing to balance this out we also had some oranges in between because they just tasted so darn good.
QUESTION: Have you ever eaten a perogie?

I was just talking about perogies with Nick last night! My mom used to buy the frozen ones (similar to yours) when I was a kid, and I was addicted. They were always served with sour cream and a bit of pepper and they were one of my favorite meals! I haven't had them in so long, which is what Nick and I were talking about last night. Perhaps I'll bring them back into my life soon! Nick would love them.

Yes, I love perogies.

And the mini ice cream cone is so cute, and great portion control! ;)

I hope you are enjoying what's left of your Sunday! :) Have a great week!

I've tried them, but as a sample from Costoc :-)
They kind of taste like raviolis, actually!

Saturdays are the best snack days. As for perogies, my college roommate is from teh Ukraine so we used to eat perogies as midnight munchies. Delicious!
