First night of Hanukkah and a Holiday party

Last night was the first night of Hanukkah. Look at the gifts just piling up. At the same time it was also Ryan's work holiday party last night, so we were pressed for time.

Before the party we lit the menorah. This is my new menorah from my grandmother. It is 8 (technically 9 for the "middle" candle) individual holders and you can arrange them any way you want. I only took out the first candle holder.

After the candles burned out we made our way to the holiday party. I was able to make a nice plate of salad. These rolls were heavenly. The Portuguese make some fabulous bread.
The forgot about my vegetarian meal, so they whipped this together last minute. Boy was I impressed what they came up with on such short notice. These are stuffed tomatoes, filled with a rice/orzo type dish with yummy mushrooms. On the side was something like fried bread with a spicy paste type spread inside.
Sorry for the blurriness!
Me and Ryan enjoying ourselves.
Dessert was some kind of cheesecake like item. It was pretty good.
Coffee as well.
Then we came home to finish the Hanukkah celebration. Ryan got me this awesome cookbook. I think I will make some bread tomorrow.
From my mom...
And my dad got me some clothes...

Then we watched a movie and went to bed. It was a nice evening and I think we fit a lot in with the short amount of time from the end of the work day until bed time.
QUESTION: Have you been to a holiday party or are you going to a holiday party this year?

I'm glad they were able to improvise such a nice vegetarion meal! And, nice gifts...

I have no big holiday parties to attend this year, but I have several holiday teas, etc. scheduled with friends.

Wow, that's impressive that they whipped that up immediately just for you. Cool!

I don't think I'll be at a holiday party today...we do it pretty low-key!
