This week will likely be insane for me. I have a grad class here on the base. This is every night, starting tonight, for the week 6-9:30 and then all day Saturday and all day Sunday. But I can't complain because when the week is over I will have finished one more grad class towards a MA in Human Relations. We actually get a few weeks before class to complete pre-class assignments, and about 3 weeks after class to complete a final paper. So in all, I probably work on a class for about 7-8 weeks, which is much longer than the actual week I spend with the professor. I like the combo of in class with a professor and at home on your own. It's a neat set-up.
Also this week, starting Wednesday, a new term with Kaplan University starts. For those of you who don't know, I am an instructor for undergrad courses with Kaplan. I have been teaching medical terminology for about 1 1/2 years, but I was really hired in the nutrition department, which is relatively new and still growing, so I picked up the med term classes to help get my feet wet with the whole online teaching experience. Once nutrition took off, I started with an intro course called Nutrition Planning and Management. Now that the program is really moving, I have moved over 100% into the nutrition department. So, this will be my first term teaching 3 sections (~78 students) of this nutrition course. Kaplan runs for 10 weeks, so there is a lot to fit in during that time. I do love teaching for Kaplan, so if you are at all interested (or have always had a desire to teach) and have a Master's degree, feel free to check it out or ask me any questions. Also, if you have any questions at all about teaching, my experiences (both online and on ground at UNLV), feel free to ask.
So, with a busy week ahead, I am trying to relax, and I thought what better way then a trip to the aquarium. I find the ocean very tranquil (usually unless there's a storm here!) and I have tons of pictures of fish and otehr ocean critters from a trip to the Baltimore Aquarium. Ryan came home to Baltimore with me for (my friends) Mer and Matt's wedding. This was before we were even married and his first real time seeing things in Baltimore. So we took my sister to the aquarium. Below are many fish pictures. Enjoy and I hope you find it relaxing under the sea!
I love this picture. These I have seen under water in person out in the ocean.
FYI some fish just move way to fast to have a picture come out looking normal. In the meantime, it makes for some neat looking pictures. I love the look on this guys face.
The dolphin show was great!
Ok, maybe this may cause you some anxiety, as I hate creepy crawly slithery things too, but he is totally relaxed, so I leave you with his image so you can take a hint and chill out too!
As temps warm up here on the island, I am looking forward to getting back in the ocean. I love to look around and snorkel, but sometimes I see something and get spooked, so I try not to panic while out there. I carry a knife on me in case I need to defend myself, and I hope that knife never has to be used.
QUESTION: Do you have a favorite aquarium? What is your favorite animal under the sea?

woo hoo blog shout out!! i have never been to any other aquarium other hten Baltimore, but its pretty nice! i like the water tubes in the lobby that go blub-blub-blub.
You know, even though I drive past it every day, I don't think I've been to the aquarium in 15 years! I should make an opportunity to go!
Good luck with your busy week! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for another big snow storm here in Bmore this weekend!
Good luck with teaching. You're a busy gal!
Thanks for sharing the pics. Especially the cute turtles!
wow you do sound busy enjoy the egg curry
I'm SO afraid of fish. I've been "snorkeling" once at Typhoon Lagoon in Disney World but I don't know if I could go out in open water.
I've only been to 3 aquariums in my life. I like the big tank in Boston, but most exhibit with fish give me the chills. Haha, I'm so weird!
great picturesss!! I hjavent been to an aquarium in so lonnngggg!!
Sounds like you are going to busy! Good luck with everything!
I love the aquarium pics! I think we'll take the toddler to the Monterey Bay Aquarium soon. :)
Such wonderful pictures. We don't go to the aquarium much, at all really. I don't know why we don't do that more often, but I know we will when we have kids. It's like an excuse to get out and do things you haven't done in a while.
I hope you get through the week ok! Remember, it's always worth it at the end :) Just like you said, you'll feel a sense of true accomplishment.
The last time I tried to go to the aquarium in Baltimore, there was a power shut-down. Boo!
Next time I'm in the east coast area, I shall stop by!
Man, I do not envy your night classes...but woo hoo to being one step closer!
I just went to an aquarium in San Francisco...sea animals are sooooo interesting and inherently beautiful!
Whoa, that's an intense course! The format does sound really neat, though, and how awesome to have another course of the list! YAY you!! Your teaching sounds super busy, too - over 70 students is a TON! Oh my goodness! I hope you get at least a little rest and relaxation in the coming weeks...
Thank you for the awesome aquarium tour! :-) I love the Baltimore Aquarium - it's definitely the best! We love the Atlanta aquarium too, but nothing quite matches the Baltimore aquarium... :-) My favorites are always the seahorses! :-)
Thank you so much for your incredibly kind comment about my latest post... *hugs* :-)
Wow, you do have a crazy week! I didn't know about Kaplan -- that's great! Good for you!
Love aquariums -- the Chicago Shed is my favorite, and the penguins always steal my heart!
I loooooove going to the aquarium! it so tranquil (minus all the little people running around lol)
Aquariums are really cool. I think the last two aquariums that I have visited was the Atlanta Aquarium and the Tennessee Aquarium. Sea turtles are my favorite sea animals.
You are going to have one crazy week! When it is over, kick-back and relax.
