Beating the Storm

Just a quick hello!

My friend Marie is in visiting, finally, after all the stress from the storm hitting Baltimore.  Her flight was cancelled, but my mom helped to find her a flight out with just a few seats remaining.  Looks like it was the last flight out of Baltimore and she managed to get in to Boston way ahead of her flight to the island.  She made the flight to Ponta Delgado and then boarded for my island.  So, when she arrived a lot, A LOT, of time passed after the flight landed and I was SO NERVOUS she didn;t make the connecting flight.

No, she was here...but her luggage was back on the other island.  She thinks I am cursed because everytime she comes to visit me, her luggage winds up lost.  In this case, not lost, just not here, so we think, or so they say!

No calls from the airline tonight.  Apparently over 600 kilos never got on the plane because there was no room, well, so they say!

I hope we hear from them early tomorrow, but at least we bought her the essentials for tonight.

Note to anyone coming to visit me, bring an extra change of clothes in your carry on...

Anyway, just a short note.  I hope to make more posts soon while she is here, but it is a little hectic with still working and going to school.  Plus, we are out and about seeing lots of neat stuff.  I am so sorry I don;t have enough time, but I hope to get caught up on everyone's blogs.  I apologize in advance because I really enjoy reading what everyone is up to.

QUESTIONS:  Have you ever lost your luggage while traveling?  Ever had the weather result in a cancelled flight?

I can't believe it but I have seriously never had any problems with luggage or canceled flights. And I have flown a good amount of times. Maybe I'm lucky? Ok, I NEED to knock on wood because I am flying next month...
I hope your friend gets her luggage!! And, have a great time hanging out. So cool that your friend came to visit! Teach her the ropes and making bread from scratch :)

An airline lost my luggage once, but they delivered it to my house the next day so it wasn't a big deal. I hope you enjoy your time with your mom!

I'm so glad your friend arrived safely! I'm sure she's very happy to be with you AND escape the second snow storm in Baltimore! :-) I hope her luggage arrives soon - my fingers are crossed for y'all! I've lost my luggage so many times, but the most chaotic was definitely in Spain... I'll never ever forget how to say "excuse me, do you know where I can find my luggage?" in Spanish! :-)

Enjoy your time with your friend!

I hate when luggage gets lost..that is the worst. It's happened to me but luckliy, it was on my flight back home so I had clothes, makeup, etc. to hold me over.

Have a great time with your friend. So glad she made it! I have lost luggage once before. It turned into a nightmare, with my husband drving to another city to get it. There were so many bags lost that weekend that it would have been weeks before I saw my suitcase.

I missed your comment on my latest blog, so I decided I better come visit you on your blog to make sure that you were ok and I found out why you're MIA! :) I hope that you have a fantastic time with your friend and can get all your work done. I also hope that she gets her luggage soon! What a pain, but not at all surprising that that happened!

I think it's been weeks since a plane in the US left or landed on time! :) Oh well...what can you do? My hubby's luggage got lost just last week! Luckily, he didn't have anything to do for a few days and was able to scour his dad's closet :)

Happy Valentine's Day, girl!
